Why is government created?

Government is created primarily to accomplish purposes that individuals cannot achieve on their own. This founding principle acknowledges that in a structured society, certain tasks and functions are better managed collectively through a central authority rather than by individuals acting separately. For instance, issues such as national defense, infrastructure building, education systems, and public health require coordinated efforts and resources that individuals would struggle to marshal independently.

While enforcing laws, handling public relations, and collecting taxes are functions of government, these are means through which the broader objectives of governance are achieved. The essence of why government exists is rooted in its ability to provide order, security, and the ability to implement policies that promote the common good, which individuals alone may find challenging to organize or manage effectively.
